SVSG - "SAVING LIVES" FUNDRAISING APPEAL

Samoa Victim Support Group is a non-governmental organization, the only organization in Samoa providing refuge for abused women and children.

Since the Group was set up in July 2005, it has been protecting & promoting the rights of women, children and vulnerable population, specifically the right to be free from abuse.

18 years now, demand for SVSG’s support services continues to grow. The Group has earned the community & partners trust, as a child safe organization, and a women led human rights activist.

Amongst the lives being saved through SVSG’s work include:

• 6000+sheltered victims of gender-based violence, and supported them in seeking justice

• 3000+ rehabilitated offenders of violence as a holistic approach to addressing family violence

• 20000+ Helpline calls received from the community requiring assistance and responded to accordingly

• Successfully lobbied for legislation changes in Samoa; resulting in criminalize domestic violence; and life imprisonment for offenders of sexual abuse of children under 13 years old.
